My vote will not make a difference is a lie!

Childress Votes In Alcohol
Updated:11/7/2007 11:37:51 AM

BY 7 VOTES
Childress County is now wet. The local liquor option passed narrowly Tuesday 789 to 782.
Early voting was the difference as 316 voted for the measure while 262 voted against.
A total of 1,531 votes were cast.
Last night, it was reported that 1,834 had voted with the difference 2, but it was discovered that voting machines in precincts 301 and 401 tabulated incorrectly, according to election officials.
The Secretery of State will be notified of the change.

I greive for my hometown.  This is something that this community does not need, nor any community.  In my honest opinion, this is what happens when apathy and indiffernence creeps in, Satan gains another foothold in our lives.

Gotta remember that God is still in control.

My somewhat answer to my question

I quickly through out a question last Friday on who you would like to see as our new Execuive Director.  I guess that I need to answer my own question.

1.  Rick Davis — I doubt that this will happen or that Rick would even want the position.  However, I think that he has the forward thinking that would help us as a convention.  He definately would lead our convention of churches to keep the main thing the main thing — Evangelism!  He would be someone who would reach out and listen to our churches and actually be willing to come out and see us.

2.  Bailey Stone — He is an older guy but has lots of energy.  If I remember correctly he was our former BGCT Evangelism Director.  He left around the Wade administration began.  I have been in churches where he has lead revivals.  He is great communicator of God’s Word, and a great people person.  Since he has worked in Dallas, he knows the business.

3.  James Semple — Again he is a former BGCT staff.  I believe that he was our Mission guy at one time.  James has been the interim Ex. Director of New Mexcio’s convention since he left his Dallas position.  He also is a great revival speaker who I have heard several times.  He is personable and a great listener.

4.  D.L Lowrie — He was once our state president.  Why not our Ex. dir?  I don’t know much about him, but with two sons in the pastorate he must have done something right.  He has a speaking ministry now after his retirement from FBC Lubbock.  Could he be a good fit?

Anyway just a few thoughts.  Could any of these guys be the one to lead us in a new and better direction?  Who knows?

Rearranged Plans

Please be in prayer for my mother in law.  It looks like she has either menegitus or west nile.  We are getting ready to head down to Childress to check on her in the hospital.  Sounds like she has been pretty sick for 11 days now.  She was admitted to the hosptial Wednesday.  Her name is Trish.

Now that the convention is over, can we have a friendly debate on who our next Ex. Dir. should be?  Name your candidate and tell why he should be our next Ex. Dir.  I think this would be fun and a good learning experience for us all.

Got to spend the day with H.S. Students

Had a good day today!  It was my first day to substitute teach ever and I got to sub for 4 classes at the high school.  It was just good to be around students.  Most of the work was busy work, so I let them visit quietly as they worked.  Got to hear what they are involved in and some of the goofy stuff they did last night for Halloween.

School is a different bird than it was 20 years ago!  But there are still somethings that are the same.  The biggest thing I had to keep an eye on was the use of cell phones in the classroom.  I dropped the ball on that in the morning but once I figured out what the guidelines were on the issue I didn’t have a problem.  Those things are so small and the students do a great job in trying to conceal them it is something else.

Another great thing is that I found more time to study for my sermon at the school than I did in my office.  There were less distractions.  Go figure that out!  Text for Sunday is John 3:25-30, “Characteristics of a Godly Servant”.
