God of the here and now

Just picked up Tozer’s book, God’s Pursuit of Man, off of my shelf.  Read the first chapter and have been done some repenting.  The idea that God laid on my heart through this chapter is this.  How many times do we see God in the past, look for Him in the future, but live that He is with us in the here and now?

We know that He is with us in the here and now, but do we live it?  Do we acknowledge Him?  When we come together for worship and Bible study, we know He says that He is with us, but do we truly believe it?  In our worship we say that God is in our midst, but does our worship show it?  We work in our offices, minister to the people, preach from the pulpit, but do we do these things with the awareness that God is beside us every step of the way?  How would our lives be different if we truly realized that God is with us in the here and now, not just in the past, or waiting for us in the future?

We cannot not truly know God if we just read His acts in His Word, can we?  Our faith is not based upon ideas, but it built upon a relationship with our Creator, our Redeemer.  We need to exerience Him in the here and now!  It needs to be real and it needs to be fresh.  The only way we can have this happen is to acknowledge that God is with me as I type this, and He is with you as you read it.  He is with our people right now as they work, as they travel, as they play with their kids, as they watch T.V., as they are doing whatever they do.  Let us realize and acknowledge that God is with us right now.  Let’s see how He transforms us today.
